REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is utterly adorable on TheCrispy - it is a slight story made by the inclusion of a narrator for the viewers. It feels like a fairytale, and the kind, droll tones of the narrator guide us through the story.

Julia Gulacsi has to be one of the best people as taking a character from being meek and downtrodden, to finding her voice, fulfilment and radiating happiness. Olivia is a different person at the end of this.

Ian Schutzman has a less showy role as Liam, he sells the connection with Olivia and friction with Theo. Not quite sure why the character waves a gun around so much, think it is mainly to look cool.

I love Felix Lahiff as troublemaker Theo. The dynamic is more interesting because he is the natural son and heir, but the gambling problems have put Liam in charge. Theo does feel a bit nice but dim. It doesn't take a lot of work from Stella to sway him to her side, but soon she goes too far even for him.

Victoria and Stella make a brilliant dreadful duo, endlessly shopping.

There are some great lines in here about 'the face card' and the 'little do they know' from the narrator.

And of course being Korean set everything looks glossy and immaculate. If you want pitch perfect winter coats and knits, you need K Drama or in their case K Verts in your life.

It's an enjoyable little vertical, made by the narrator. That's what made it for me, I laughed out loud multiple times.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

This is the sweetest romance you will watch - Liam and Olivia are adorable (don’t worry he is adopted it is all ok). The costume design is very clever, as Olivia blossoms she finally ditches the gingham dresses for soft pastels. And when Ian is in despair, thinking Olivia lost forever, he is in a washed out grey.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

The devil and the troublemaker - Stella and Theo are a great pair. Particularly as poor Theo is way out of his depth with Stella and her machinations. And she learnt from her mother Victoria, who has an impressive ability to adapt to any situation, turn the tears on and seek sympathy.

😂 Comedy gold:

The droll, deadpan narrator, delivering lines such as “Oh My” or “Oh Dear” when things go wrong is hilarious. Particularly loved the comment when Liam decides to threaten Olivia with a gun when she goes to leave with a “he is letting his feelings get the better of him”, and the thinly disguised glee when Stella and Victoria get their comeuppance.

🎺 Unsung hero:

The narrator. Now this device is a bit marmite, you will love or hate it. I loved it. It added an extra dimension to a fairly slight story and made it a must watch for me.
