REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I knew it. I knew Jake Hobbs could do comedy if given the right script.

Oh my goodness this is so much fun. A body swap comedy needs a great script and central performances.

This has both in spades. We explore the humour of the body swap without ever becoming crass. The explanation for the swap is well worked out, and means so much more when Cody finally risks it all with the kiss.

Kelly Tappan is a hoot from the first moment when she deals with the pervy photographers and easily manages giving Bella the more reserved nature of Cody. I think her greatest triumph is not breaking every time Jake Hobbs is in full flow as Bella.

He is all in and the result is hysterically funny and a total lack of vanity with some of the outfits he wears and poses he pulls. He nails the mannerisms, the physicality and the voice. But he also gives the character heart, and has some sweet moments when Bella is really hurt. It is just utterly joyous and so so fun watching Jake do this and get to showcase more beyond the reserved CEO he does so well.

So I am already totally loving this. And then Adam Santa Cruz turns up as the most green flag character Kevin, makes a red neck 🧣 look good, is always wonderful to Bella and is all round awesome.

Everyone gets to have more fun, especially Robyn Cantrell who has done some mean villains, and here gets to play around with a bit more humour, including the bed scene with Cody which is hysterical.

Also love Lucas - can't work out who the actor is.

It will make you smile from ear to ear and has the best ending with the offer Cody makes to Bella (just ignore the terrifying kiss to lens 😆).

It is on early release on DreameShort I paid a stupid amount of money to watch it. Do I have any regrets? No.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

Love takes a while in this one, as Cody and Bella are more concerned about survival. But when it does arrive, both do the big gestures to help each other. And I did swoon at Cody offering to body swap for pregnancy.

Plus we have Kevin who is 100% swoonworthy and a perfect second male lead.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Lucas and Alice are great villains because they are allowed to lean into the comedy, from Lucas licking the popcorn out of the bowl, to the 'Come on' scene with Alice and Cody. They do bad things but it is so much more fun this way.

😂 Comedy gold:

Pretty much everything Jake Hobbs does - an excellent high pitched scream, great physical comedy, the ketchup bottle, flattening that burger, the photo shoots, the hand gestures, plus some great lines.

🎺 Unsung hero:

This is random but I love the dresses that Alice wears, so pretty.

Cody's assistant Ryan and housekeeper for just accepting the madness.

And Kevin for being a green flag hero.
