Well you all know what pulled me into this one, yes it was the lettuce 🥬 finally making a big on screen reappearance and being the source of a key romantic moment as hands meet
It's also possibly a cathartic watch for anyone who has had a douchebag ex husband - because @ryanrayvincent Robert is awful, appalling and yet still enough charm you can see how he has managed to skate through life. Especially when you meet mother @tatianaturan_actor who does more than her fair share of messing up his business deals
@natalieannecollins is one of the best at playing the calm centre of the storm, and does so once again here, managing to make some challenging styling choices work. I think the clothes and hair were a choice because Natalie is playing someone about 15 years older than her. I hope that is why.
@franky_cammarata Cooper is very nice and very rich and gets to do a lot of Princess carries as apparently Amelia falls over a lot.
The whole childhood thing is very sweet, and Cooper is devoted to Amelia and the dream scenario after Robert
Enter Betty who takes vertical villainhood to a new level with the whole let's say she is mad and have her committed plot
It's kudos to @rileyelizabethdavis that I was kind of rooting for Betty and felt she could do better than Robert. Putting all your energy into the wrong man love!
And a big shout out to child stars @sophielafleche.official and @maliakaiofficial who are both super, and joyous every time they are on screen. More of this double act please
It has moments this one, thanks to the cast, but does descend into an overdose of vertical tropes with all the slaps. They are huge here. There is like a slow motion pause and then a massive wallop. Slightly odd and just exaggerates it even more.
It's a tad annoying as could have spent more time on the budding romance between Amelia and Cooper - put more cute moments in instead!
💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
To be honest laying out 3 cards full of money and offering payment in advance for 5 years is quite swoonworthy. And if you like a princess carry you are in for a treat.
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
Ryan Vincent plays a truly excellent cad in Robert. The cypher for awful ex husbands everywhere. But his mum - good grief! No wonder Robert turned out so badly. I know I shouldn't but I did feel bad for poor Betty at the end, he wasn't worth your time or scheming.
😂 Comedy gold:
Robert seriously thinking his wife might be up for getting back together with him after he falsely had her committed to a hospital, claiming she was mad New levels of delusion.
🎺 Unsung hero:
Well obviously the lettuce - I saw that meet cute where hands met as or leads reached for the same iceberg lettuce. Pivotal moment. And also Stella and Sophia who are adorable, much more sensible that the growns ups and have the best friendship.
