REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Now the first thing to note about this vertical is the poster.

Because hallelujah the 2 lead actor's names are on it as well as the director. It's not hard. And it looks so good.

This vertical is a mash up for a few storylines, one night stand pregnancy, CEO who is allergic to most women (but not her) and a 'friend' stealing the identity.

It works because of the cast who are all excellent.

Long time followers of this account will know I am a big CJ Walker fan. She is just mesmerising on screen, perfect combo of vulnerable, strong and a peek of sass. And she is brilliant as Crystal because she stands up to everyone around her, including Kevin when he is being overbearing.

Elijah Rowen is super as Kevin, and he shows a slightly different take on the typical CEO. There is a bit more realism, the way he takes delight in winding up Henry, and waving the auction paddle around. Plus he is properly furious whenever he encounters bullying or Vivian causing issues. Which makes you realize far too often CEOs seem far too ok with the shenanigans that go on in their offices. There is a moment where he is absolutely enraged at Vivian BUT he never loses control, and it never becomes physical. It is another level.

But then when he falls for Crystal he is all in, properly beside himself when she is in hospital, and channeling school boy crush as he spies on her in the office. Plus he is so proud of that sandwich.

Then as a bonus we have superstar Kyle Fragnoli, who is trending all over Reelshort at the moment, turn up as fairy godmother assistant Paul who has to sort the main pair out and struggles to keep the grin off his face as his boss learns about feelings.

Now I can't find the names for the following parts, so please help if you know.

I love that Henry, played by Patrick Zappacosta, is appalled at Vivian and digs his heels in when dealing with Kevin. Always amusing when they clash over Crystal who then has enough and ditches them both.

And a lot of love for Vivian/Valerie (oh help already forgotten the name) and the fact the stylist leant into a slightly camp theatrical feel with that hat and gloves. Just made her more awesome.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

I love that Crystal stands up to Kevin in this - she calls him on his sh*t, which means you have a proper relationship where the 2 leads grow together. When he falls he is all in. And I love that Kevin is properly furious with Valerie without ever getting violent, all too often male leads are far too nice to the female villains. It is very well done.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Oh Valerie - what are you doing? She does well to get away with it as long as she does, and very clearly it is about the money rather than Kevin himself. Possibly my favourite thing is the high camp / diva hat and opera gloves.

😂 Comedy gold:

Paul (Kiki Frags) saying “I’m going to go admire this wall” is a highlight. And Kevin managing to say with a straight face “I am a billionaire playboy genius”.

🎺 Unsung hero:

Henry who genuinely wants the best for Crystal and is appalled when Valerie suggests dastardly deeds. I felt bad for him but Kevin had a point, he had 10 years to do something and never made his move.
