REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So for the record, I can cope with more than rom coms.

Fave watches include Aliens, Terminator, early seasons of The Walking Dead, Children of Men, Blade Runner, Matrix, Sunshine.

For me it is about if the violence fits the story.

The set up of Game of Choice is death from the beginning. The entire story is about how far the characters will go for money / family / freedom

You know I have been invested in this since @felix_merback mentioned he thought this was something special. And I trust Felix. Then I spoke to the main cast, could sense their excitement and also what a grueling shoot this was.

Well damn it paid off

This is phenomenal

And career best performances from

@kelseyannmaskell @sophiadelucchi @felix_merback @michaelvaccaro @the_charliewood @brianoshea93 @eliseluthman @markchinnery

I'm going to do another post about these rockstar performances

The cameos are insane. I won't spoil the surprises

It's not perfect. It lags a little bit around episode 20, perhaps could have lost one of the rounds. And we don't need the voiceover

Cos @kelseyannmaskell is epic in this. When you have a powerhouse actress like this we know what Eve is thinking.

But I am being niggly cos I am trying to be balanced

💥 This proves Verticals can be more than romance
💥 This proves the format is here to stay
💥 This showcases what is possible in a vertical frame with just a bit more budget and time
💥 This is the sort of content that will bring in a mainstream audience

And just thank you to whoever took the chance to get this made. To the team at @reversclock
the crew and all the cast - you all smashed it.

🔥 F*cking H*ll:

Well we know verticals have been knocking at the door to prove that they are more than romance and CEO storylines. Game of Choice smashes that door open. We knew the vertical format, tense episodes, would suit other genres and it transfers perfectly to this horrific game of survival.

🏆 Performances:

And I’ve always said some of the most talented actors are working in verticals - but the romantic storylines do limit their ability to showcase what they can do. Unleash them and this is what you get - career best performances from every single person.

🎤 Mic Drop Moments:

We match Scream for shocking deaths before the paywall. But wait to the end. Two jaw dropping cameos. This is the most stacked cast ever in a vertical.

🎼 Visuals and Music:

It looks stunning - the sets for the games, the desert shots are stunning, the lighting, and the use of classical music means Carmen will now freak me out forever. Thanks for that. The stunts and fights are top notch and crucially brutal. Nothing is ever glamourised here.

🖊️ The Plot:

This is where verts shine - no hanging around here as you have to grab the audience’s attention. Cue immediate set up and straight into the action. And then it is all about how each character responds to the extreme circumstances, turns on each other, breaks or bonds. There isn’t a single weak link.

But this show is about one character. And I don’t make this comparison lightly: Eve saying ‘who’s the hunter now?’ that is Verticals’ Aliens moment ‘get away from her you b*tch’.
