REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A new genre for verts. Hallelujah.
This one is a proper mystery, as we do not know what has happened to Eva, who tried to kill her and which of the 3 men in her life is the big bad. It's so refreshing, it adds mystery but keeps the pace required for verts, and all 3 male leads are valid options so you have the romance as well
This is a dream role for @jesssjacoby - this is a strong female lead, who pushes back whenever she feels one of the men is trying to control her, and has great lines about the emotional confusion she is going through and frustration at her situation. It's a really interesting character, and one of my fave moments is her decisiveness when she has forgotten everything but the doctor instinct takes over and she saves a life
@realandrewsteel does appear to have wandered in by accident from a Hallmark set with his plaid shirts, sheriff's office, big heart and crinkly eyes. I can't tell you too much as it will spoil the story, but I do adore Sam's moment in the bar when Eva has broken his heart.
@kalond_irlanda is brilliant as Graham, charming but never too smooth, he keeps you guessing all the way through. It's all in the micro expressions, he is full of heart and love, or is he?
Plus we have @elisha.p.davis as Ash, who has a motorbike, tattoo and spends most of the vertical with his shirt undone and I did worry he would catch a cold. He brings the danger, is Ash a man in love protecting Eva or is he a cold blooded killer?
It's all really well done script and performance wise
Now we have a few issues
WTF was the green screen nonsense? We didn't need to see Eva swimming in mid air. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should
And some of the edit was abrupt, several episodes are cut too short - you know what the character says from subtitles but it doesn't happen on screen. Bits are cut out and it is annoying, esp when paying for this.
But let's ignore these quibbles as overall this is really really good, it is fresh and different and keeps you guessing and a super step forward in storytelling for verts.
💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
We have options. Sam in his plaid shirts who thanks Eva for breaking his heart, because it proves he still has one. Graham who is very very handsome. And Ash who never feels the cold as his shirt is always open and has a motorbike.
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
I can’t tell you and that is the joy. It is a mystery. I suspected all 3 of the male characters at some point. That is how well done it is.
😂 Comedy gold:
We will not talk about the Green Screen. Well we will. It is awful and a massive problem in verts at the moment. Post incoming. In the meantime, ignore and move past the flailing in mid air scenes.
🎺 Unsung hero:
The script, because this is so good, and Eva has the most real amnesia experience in a vertical I have seen, with genuine emotions. And pushes back against the men trying to control her truth. Plus Jess Jacoby for being a brilliant actress and rocking all the skin tight leather.
