Limerence
starring: SHANTAYA PACE, CHUKA ARUH & MONTEZ BLAIR
Radiant, successful, and endless romantic, Shantaya seems to have it all - except the love she craves. When two very different men enter her life, she must finally answer the question she’s always avoided: has she ever truly been in love?
REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Well this is a bit of a treat, more poem and meditation on love rather than trope filled vertical
Created by, written by and starring @shantayaspeaks this has something to say, looking at the challenges of modern relationships, as Shantaya examines the difference between Limerence and Love. (Do go look up the word Limerence if like me you don't know what it means)
Shantaya is ably supported by @chukaaruh as sporty Duke and @montezblair as suave Nigel
There are some lovely scenes with both, and wonderful juxtapositions as Shantaya explores different relationships. Does it work better to take it slow or jump right in? Are gifts, words of affirmation or quality time your love language?
Plus everything looks stunning, the outfits are on point, and this is a really impressive indie vertical that you can watch for FREE on TikTok
Do go and look up @microesquefilms
This is what I admire so much about the creatives and film makers in this space. Don't see something telling the stories you want to tell? Go and make it yourself.
And don't worry, there is a cliffhanger ending but a sequel is in the works!
💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
Well both our male leads have their moment - dancing and pottery with Duke, then flowers and jewellery with Nigel. All of which is part of the questions this vertical explores, what are you looking for in a relationship and love?
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
None - this is more about life and circumstances. What does real love look like, how do you merge your life with another person?
😂 Comedy gold:
The inevitable fisticuffs at the end is fun, as is Shantaya’s reaction - I need a break from both of you! Bring on the sequel, we need to know what happens next.
🎺 Unsung hero:
Firstly the costumes and styling is stunning, and adds layers to all the characters. And Shantaya is who I want to be when I grow up, there is something so satisfying seeing a beautiful, successful female character on screen who keeps her composure, and always knows what to say.
