REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is lovely and fluffy and wonderful, and then at the end it totally made me sob.

You know sometimes when you are carrying emotion around and just need a good cry? It's been a hard day today, and the final few episodes of this totally got me. They are so good and so well done and I forgot to breathe and then blinking Eric Guilmette and Kelsey Maskell made me cry.

Joining the list of Alex Pychtin, Mark Vega and Jake Hobbs - I think it is that verticals are getting better rather than I am crying more.

It's got so many layers. You have the fairytale idea which works. Ethan dancing with Robert is adorable.

Eric Guilmette is in full on charm mode which to be honest should come with a warning.

Kelsey Maskell has the less showy roles but totally gets us on side with Mia, as she stands up to her family and remains calmer than many of us would when dealing with them.

Because Grace Swanson tears up the screen, bullying the Nickmeister, getting all the most quotable lines and what she does with that plate of spaghetti...

Note here - Lily is terrifying but no slaps or violence. All done with presence, delivery, good writing and pasta based dishes

Jack Ilco is a very attractive bad guy. I was all in on the 2 male lead until he goes evil.

We have some fun twists on Vert Tropes:

- Mia takes out one of the kidnappers herself
- Ethan thinking 'we can't live at my palatial estate'
- the step family set up isn't what you think

And then we change gears for the last few episodes and it is so beautifully done and that is when I started crying. It's just lovely.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

Right Eric Guilmette is not allowed to do that cute smile without warning. IT IS NOT FAIR. He is so adorable in this. There is some fun bickering at the beginning on the building site. But I was not prepared for the last few episodes which made me bawl like a baby, they were so good and heartfelt.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Grace Swanson should never be allowed near a bowl of spaghetti again. But the really nasty piece of work is Blake (Jack Ilco) who has a truly demented villain monologue.

😂 Comedy gold:

So many quotable gems. I plan to use most of these in my daily life:

“I can’t be poor”
”We are F*cked. With a capital F”
”F you, F you, F you, but also call me later cos you’re kinda hot”
”I’ve told you, you can only touch me between 2-3pm”

🎺 Unsung hero:

Firstly the policeman at the hospital was very nice and surprisingly competent for Vertland.

And the ‘Nickmeister’ comes through at the end.
