REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yes I came to verticals looking for romance and comedy. But I know that the revenge or survival vertical is popular with many, and seeing women overcome things can offer inspiration to many.

My objection is this has often been shown via endless physical or verbal abuse, often poorly written and there to shock and serve the algorithm rather than the story.

This is vastly better, leaps and bounds better. Because Ethan and his accomplice are terrifying, but it is all in the little areas of control, realising what he has done to Morgan, calling in the CPS. And Rebecca is scared but never humiliated, uses her wits to outsmart him, and we have a strong story of mother daughter love. This is how you tell these stories

Bravo @microhousefilms

And guess what? The great script means you get superb performances from the stars

@robertpalmerwatkins is extraordinary. No notes

@mmactuj is yet again utterly superb in a short but memorable role

@domtoney is fantastic as our lead Rebecca. Just watch the episode where she despairs after the police interview. Masterful

@jessicajarrell proving teenage daughters are awesome and usually right (I can testify to this)

@whostroy - I'm not happy about what happened to Craig. And Rebecca you broke that man's heart. Plus I think that was @jamesblackactor as Daniel.

And @meredithactress is super as creepy Caroline - especially when curled up with that photo of Ethan

It's a simple story very well done, tight script, super performances, rewarding payoff, and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through

Top work.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

Rebecca what are you doing???? Lovely Craig is right there. sighs Instead she goes for too good to be true Ethan who says all the right things and gives creepy gifts.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Just hand Robert Palmer Watkins the award for best villain now. Ethan is well written. But he is terrifying because of RPW. The way he resets his composure after a flicker of temper, changes his physicality, does something almost unnatural with his eyes. HE SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME.

😂 Comedy gold:

Episode 44 and Rebecca’s ‘whoops’ when she throws the phone.

🎺 Unsung hero:

Always listen to your teenage daughter. Lily is rightly alarmed at how quick things are moving, and does some vital research with her bestie.
