REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐
I do admire what this project has tried to do, with the Navy Seal and war-torn background. Props for effort
But it does veer a bit into 1960s Star Trek rickety set moments with the dirt on face and head scarf when Regina is a 'refugee' and the inaction of all those Seals around a gun.
But I think the biggest challenge is that it is the Breaking The Ice storyline..Again. Surely every actor in Vertland has had a chance now to play these characters.
Look it is a great storyline, and writers have been inventive on how they retell it. But I think we are done now and need to move on.
The reason to watch this version is Mr JT Garcia
Because he is superb. He elevates all the material, acts his heart out and is 💯 swoonworthy.
The character here is a total green flag and makes all the big gestures. And he puts up with a lot as all the women around him make decisions for him.
So watch for JT Garcia
He does a superb and perhaps definitive performance of that role
And maybe now this time storyline can be retired. Let's give it a break, let it put it's feet up in a hammock on a beach ⛱️ somewhere and find new stories to tell
💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
Every moment Julian (JT Garcia) is on screen. Because he sells every feeling and emotion, is amazing with Blaze, and elevates the script.
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
Vanessa is a piece of work, but so atrocious that it makes no sense that no one intervenes or stops her. Her dad says she is spoilt. Essentially I think the character is so extreme it becomes unbelievable. Would have loved some of her methods to have been a little bit more subtle and insidious.
😂 Comedy gold:
Look it wasn’t meant to be comedy, but it is amusing that in a room of highly trained soldiers, no one has the wits or reflexes to stop Vanessa grabbing that gun.
🎺 Unsung hero:
Paul (Christopher Salcedo) who is the only one who calls Vanessa on her behaviour and tries to stop her. My Hero.
