REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
There is a lot of love for Oops I Married My Enemy on Shorts but I was a bit disappointed with it, I felt the script didn't live up to the talents of the stellar cast
Well maybe someone listened because this has fixed this. This is so so so good. Well done writers Jeff Moldonavov and Rachel Zilberg.
Inspired by The Hating Game & Love Actually, they have weaved lots of new things in and written a script packed full of superb lines, developed characters and a storyline that makes sense.
Which means the cast can then smash it out of the park
This is my fave role of Rebecca Stoughton by a country mile. She is brilliant here. It's so natural, from discovering Owen cheating to fighting to save her mum. She gets an action scene with the corridor chase, a beautiful scene when her mum Lisa Long rips your heart out as she makes Riley promise her to look after her career. It's just joyous seeing Rebecca get a role like this where she can shine so brightly
And you all know I love Noah Fearnley - just watch this. It's a mix of Ryan Reynolds, Matthew McConaughey, James Stewart but better. There is no one better at switching from teasing to anger to heartfelt emotion in an instant.
And they get to have fun here with the bar scene, and early one up man ship
Kelsey Maskell does very bad things
Jolene Andersen and Travis Hunt do more bad things
But Chris Cleveland is the worst and gets an epic final scene as he is dragged out by security
Now the adverts for the cameos on socials had made me twitch, I'm English and can't cope with them. Ignore that. They are brilliant and work so well. Michael Vaccaro saves the day. Kasey Esser is brilliant. Sarah Moliski is a legend
This is horizontal level. No scrap that. Horizontals need to aspire to this level
This is a damn fine rom com, which looks gorgeous and will have been turned round in a tiny amount of time
Watch and learn Hollywood
This is how you do it

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
The whole explanation of why Owen calls Riley Cheesecake is 💕💕💕
It’s just so well done - right amount of bickering, chemisty, both realising when they have gone too far, heart when needed and a tight script. Really well done.
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
In third place Tessa, who takes advantage of the situation, but doesn’t do that much
In second place, Owen’s dreadful parents, not sure how they managed to raise such well adjusted kids
But the winner has to be CEO Marcus, who lets the mask slip a little early on, and then is the worst of the worst at the end. Excellent Taken style exit- I will find you!
😂 Comedy gold:
Lots of super lines “void of a human” “is it hard? only emotionally”
The red bow scene will live on in memory, but actually preferred Owen’s later attempts to tie his bow tie, when he throws it off in disgust
But the prize has to go to Sarah Moliski’s cameo as the ‘hooker’ Owen failed to pay. Oh dear lord.
🎺 Unsung hero:
Owen’s sister Claire for being so chill about her wedding gown. And then getting to do the little Love Actually reveal with the phone.
