REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This gem made me laugh out loud so many times. It is joyous and pokes fun at verticals… an early line is 'Can we stop all the slapping?'.

Everyone is awesome.

I am now a bit obsessed with Anna Greene - she is so likeable, and cool on screen, can switch from comedy to heartfelt emotion and I am sorry this is beyond shallow but has the best hair. As Taylor she drives the story here.

Tyler Courtad is the perfect foil as Owen, gamely wandering around in a towel, but also with an easy charm, and has one of the funniest scenes with the coffin.

Everyone on the cast is brilliant but I can't find all the names!

Shelby Janes in perhaps her finest role as Kim. Finally someone has given an actress her talent more to do in a vertical and it is hysterical, especially the double act with husband Steve.

John Henry Richardson gets to eat a lot in this when he is tucked up in that hospital bed, then has some scary moments in surgery and finally what must be one of the most memorable… well you just have to watch it. Very much enjoyed him endlessly winding up Michelle getting her name wrong.

It is so good because every character gets great lines. Kylie (Makenzie Miller) is a work of genius particularly as she is given a motive, and there is a great moment when this is taken away from her before she doubles down on crazy.

Even James has his moments, reframing being fired as taking time off. And genuinely felt for him stuck in that car with Kylie.

And we have a perfect ending with the Miss Norris storyline - adore Kalinda Gray in this, peering over her glasses and taking no sh*t in her hospital.

Love the moment Owen tries to show Taylor and Miss Norris how similar they are with glasses the music swells and then they burst out laughing.

I enjoyed this so much. It is FUN and we need more of that in the world.

More of this as well please.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

Tons of chemistry here. And one of the most memorable intimate scenes on that dining table with Grandpa coming up, desperately calling for Time Out and then dying ‘happy’. Hysterical.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

I love Kylie because SHE HAS A MOTIVE. You think she is just a mean girl (which she is) but there is also a motive there. Plus she is a hoot - did laugh at the iced tee / iced pee, asking herself ‘What would love do?’ and the fact she stops round the hospital in that outfit. At least the director calls her on it - this is a hospital not a strip club.

😂 Comedy gold:

ALL HAIL STEVE & KIM. They need their own sitcom. Struggling to say pharmaceuticals, stealing Owen’s wallet, their flashback story to how they met, squishing the cockroach with her bare foot, the whole Mary Poppins / Shrek confusion, getting her nursing degree in the mail from a classy school in Kazakhstan. Comedy gold the pair of them.

🎺 Unsung hero:

I already loved Miss Norris the hospital director, who takes no nonsense from her staff. Then we have the whole extra storyline which is everything. The bit with the glasses is perfect. So well done.
