The Price of Letting Go

When Sophie realises star Football player Chase Blackwood pays a break up fee to his ex girlfriends the plan is simple - date him, get him to dump her, collect the fee and pay for her mum’s surgery. But things go a bit awry when despite all Sophie’s efforts, Chase stubbornly refuses to let go.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I do admire @gingerbreadmanpic because they are one of the few production companies that make comedy Verticals. They know how to blend comedy and romance and this is another hit

By far my favourite role of @chena_verony - yes she can suffer beautifully in the more traditional heroine roles, but so much more fun seeing her in mischievous mode, eyes sparkling, those bows in her hair as a light bulb goes off again and she tries another method to get Chase to dump her. It's charming and adorable.

And I have decided @markhvmc is channeling a mix of Marlon Brando and Leslie Nielsen here, the glowering delivery and the absolute deadpan. Plus maybe a bit of a Bill Murray with a few of the wry smiles. And it works, he is the dour straight man to Sophie's sunshine, which means it is all the more effective when he does crack and finally falls for Sophie

But I mainly want to talk about @chiaone who is one of the best people ever, and gets a much bigger role here, covering all the jobs including wedding officiant, and nearly getting to go on a date as well. he is the very best, and endlessly fun to watch.

It's fresh, fun and has some great very silly moments. Plus a slow burn romance that gets you are the end

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

I mean this is it - Chase buys Sophie a weekly Dreameshort pass so she can watch her favourite soap. He gives her a box of her favourite donuts. And 8 times a night.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

There are none which is lovely - Chase’s mum tries, but is totally baffled by Sophie, and her expression when Sophie decides to train her replacements is everything. Also love Olivia (Riley Elizabeth Davis) carrying around a wad of banknotes to pay for everything.

😂 Comedy gold:

There is so much here - Lena and Theodore just happening to carry their auction paddles, and starting to outbid each other on buying Sophie off, every time the lightbulb goes off for Sophie, everything with training the replacements. It’s just lovely.

🎺 Unsung hero:

MIKE! Best name in the world (my husband) and also Michael Sullivan. He is the driver, security, confidante, officiates the wedding, is ready to act as auctioneer if needed. By far MVP in this story. And almost has his own romantic storyline… need to set him up with Daisy.
