REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐
One of the things I like about verticals is spotting future stars - always done it a bit. Remember watching TV adaptation of Vampire Academy and thinking Leo Woodhall would go far - the other thing is seeing how much people's acting can grow and develop and we have both here
@emmaroseball has developed so much, there is a wonderful knowing wink to the camera here which reminded me of the great Amanda Bynes at her best, but also lots of heart and emotion, esp the scene where Hailey walks away in the rain
And then @ryley_schroeder - basically a superstar is born. He is like Michael Biehn and Scott Eastwood rolled into one but better. And he destroys this role. He is so fricking good. Tyler could be a jerk, but he gets the teasing just right, with a smirk but never cruel. Then the sheer physicality when he is about to burst when team mates holding him back so he doesn't take out Cole. And then one of the best broken faces when they split, and he confesses. Ridiculously good and he will go supernova
I do feel for @andrew_bova as Derek is in the background a lot but really comes through at the end for his bestie and brother. And also dumps Jessica as soon as he sees what she is really like
@alyssa_heyer I have missed you, welcome back, you were awesome. As was @liam.silbernagel esp when on the floor with a mouth of blood screaming at Tyler to hit him
Plus shout out to the very sensible parents @alice_anusia and @justinberti who handle everything brilliantly
It is quite full on this one, but watch it for Ryley's performance. And honestly could see this one on a big screen.
@dramabox_official are really upping their game and I for one am here for it
💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
I mean this has a lot of spice, more than I can usually cope with. But I don't mind it when they're is also emotion - and a proper love story. Tyler feels a lot more deeply than he lets on, and he goes through it when Hailey leaves him, or she is threatened by Cole. Impressive quick thinking with the hose to deal with the situation in the swimming pool, staying with Hailey and the hug, and then the love confession in episode 57. Plus the ending is really well handled, and eminently. Sensible.
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
So good to have Alyssa Heyer back, and playing mean with the perfect accomplice in Cole / Liam Silbernagel. And Jessica does a number on Hailey when she reveals she was using her all along to get to Derek.
😂 Comedy gold:
Tyler would be very good at hide and seek, the amount of times he has to scarper and hide.
🎺 Unsung hero:
Hailey's mum, one of the first characters I have seen do laundry in a vertical who isn't a maid. Hooray!
