⭐⭐⭐⭐

Well this is very different on @mydrama.series

First of all I applaud everyone for resisting the urge to cast @maksimc as a dance instructor in his first vertical, but instead have him playing grief stricken outdoorsman Jack.

Because this is not a billionaire vertical, instead it feels more like a lifetime movie with a bit of Safe Haven thrown in. Pretty much the entire movie is set in the woods, so we have the most stunning landscape ever seen in a vert, stunts in a rocky river and on a cliff top rather than in a mansion's swimming pool. It all looks phenomenal as well, every shot is thought through, the light is stunning and it is a visual treat.

@alexandriawatts does a super job with the role that is perhaps least well written - I wish Camila was given a bit more agency, she is the victim of the men around her, but has a super moment at the end when she fights back against her ex, and perfectly captures the longing to have a baby both at the beginning when gazing at the kids clothes stores (I've done that) and then with the other good news.

@maksimc is super, a dominating physical presence who reminds you of a wounded bear. He is a natural in this, drawing us into Jack's story and making us feel for this damaged man.

We have the 2 hideous poachers who despatch of the animals, but the worst of the lot is @siralexanderkane as Owen who is frankly terrifying.

I don't use those comparisons lightly - this character is on that level of Merle, Vic and Tierney.

Overall it is a refreshing new direction for verts, a tense thriller which also brings the romance.

I do wish Camila had been a little better written,and they are a few moments where it lagged a little and the pace could have picked up.

But all in all a really good example of the fact you can be brave and move beyond the existing stock verts of actions and banquet halls, and come up with a compelling story.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

Everything looks stunning - the scenery, some of the lighting and shots, and the ending is beautiful. Story wise, performance wise, and the way it looks. A visual treat.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Camila's husband Owen is one of the most terrifying figures in verticals - menacing, violent, and powerful because he is a cop. He is like a mix of Merle Dixon from The Walking Dead, Vic Mackey in the Shield and Tierney in Safe Haven.

😂 Comedy gold:

No comedy here - this is heartfelt and emotional. Was joyous seeing a survival vert - no billionaire suits, or swimming pools. Instead we have amazing natural scenery, and characters working out how to defend themselves.
