REVIEW
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Well @atwistofficial have been getting close and now we have my first gold review which is Circle Of Lies, part of the collaboration with @therealhartbeat
Oh this is so good. Its been a while since I found a vertical drama I actually couldn't put down. I ignored all emails and messages yesterday whilst I watched this.
5 friends will up to a very nice house (sorry that is not a cabin), and soon discover they cant leave and someone is determined to find out what happened to sixth friend Anna who died last time they were all together.
Watching the shifting power dynamics, who has betrayed who, whether the women. Come together or fall apart, it is so good. Yes I guessed early on who did it, but the pace and characters kept me hooked and there is a satisfying twist / resolution at the end
@honneeyyaa is great as calculating politician Maya, who has bailed out everyone as some point
I adore @benitajadah Jasmine, especially at the beginning sipping her drink and there for the drama
@rachelleshow is super as volatile, jittery Riley, who visibly calms when all her secrets are revealed. PS dont eat at Riley's restaurant
@angelicathompson__ does a wonderful waft as wellness coach Sy who just wants everyone to get along
Im convinced Chloe @imabadbee has embezzled money or something, she looks so guilty throughout the whole thing. There is more there to find out....season 2 please
@shanellelovemore ensures Anna's brief scenes are memorable, and also has to spend the most time in the woods. I know the white skirt is so she is visible, but worried Shanelle was cold when filming that.
And @kosa.akaraiwe styles out some horrible glasses to bring the menace as Mark, with an especially good scene at the end when he loses his temper
Basically it is very very good, and if you are able to watch it you should.
💖 Top swoonworthy moment:
No romance here unless you count Mark. More about female friendship and dynamics of a friendship group.
🦹🏼♂️ Top villain award:
Well, the delicious thing here is you can have a long debate about who is the worst, and who the main villain is. One of the reasons I loved this, everyone has flaws. I did guess who the killer was early on, but the twists and turns kept me invested all the way through. Also turning up the heat in the house, that one hurt as a perimenopausal woman who feels like she is permanently on fire.
😂 Comedy gold:
I do love that I could start this with a wellness coach, author, CEO, politician and chef walked into a bar sorry remote cabin…
🎺 Unsung hero:
I can’t single anyone out, this is an ensemble performance. If I have to maybe Maya who does at least push back against the games master.
