Are @watchcandyjar putting @josephdavidpurcell in too many projects? Over exposure can be a thing. Especially when perpetually stuck in high school. I was wondering before watching this, and then you watch and remember how good he is and are like ok, put him in everything I surrender

This is slight, and finishes all too soon but v v good

@kirsten.kendall never misses and is super as Haley with an edge, the only way to survive her home life, and resistant to Will's charms. Thankfully there is a masked party and of course our leads get together, and it is better for the fact Haley finds out quickly that it is Will.

Then we have some excellent washing up scenes, lots of chemistry and a slow build to a really tense ending thanks to Haley's violent father, @rmattbaxter suitably terrifying as Viper, and @elyse_mirto beyond brilliant as the Sheriff

Plus MVP Snake @yellowfev3r who is going to need to break it to his dad that the gang marriage isn't going to happen

It's just a perfect slice of romance, brilliantly acted, looks great and very moreish

I do hope Candyjar give their leads here Joseph and Kirsten a wider range of roles, would love to see them in a non high school setting, and with more complex characters to work with. Imagine what they could do - but at the same time the YA formula works and I totally understand why CJ are spending a lot of time here at the moment

And with cash this watchable, why not?

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

Nice twist her that the 'bad one' is Haley rather than Will. And it is a good set up to explain why they are no longer friends. But of course we know it won't last, and Will's charm soon wears Haley down. And he comes through at the end, that is the thing, there is substance there. From the moment he stands up to his mum for Haley.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Haley's dad is truly terrifying - it is very well done, and the menace is there.

😂 Comedy gold:

Bestie Snake has the best timing in the world walking past Haley's house at the perfect moment to help her escape from her dad. We love Snake.

🎺 Unsung hero:

Elyse Mirtso as the Sheriff who gets her man. She is so good, just loved this role for her. Something different to do, and she smashes it.
