⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a very sweet, old fashioned traditional vertical, much closer to the original Chinese dramas that I loved.

Yes we have auctions, kidnapping, the odd slap, and attempted drugging but it never ever goes too far.

And a key thing here is the majority of characters are good decent people, something that doesn't happen often in verts.

This project is made by the stars.

@alexareddy has the most stunning eyes so genius casting her as Jodie. She is utterly brilliant at showing the audience when Jodie is blind, always looking off distance or not focusing. It's so so good, and the transformation is clear when her sight comes back.

And then @kylanjmackenzie is perfect as Lucas, initially a bit pompous, but redeemable once he realises his misjudgements and devoted to Jodie

They are so cute together, tentative first love and it is comforting to watch. Even the ending is cosy with the pink arches and flowers

@denizsinaki is the most memorable villain as Maggie, making some out there outfits look sharp, and with a powerful change of expression when she finds out who Jodie is

@shy.millerr @jan.chadburn @stevekammerer @nstephens_ all bring a great range of supporting characters and the whole thing zips along happily

Yes this storyline isn't going to change the world. It's a very classic Cinderella story. But it will make you feel good, and happy and that is what verticals are about for many of us.

This one does what it says on the tin.

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

The lovely thing here is Luke doesn't suspect Jodie of being a gold digger for long and as soon as he realizes his mistakes he is mortified, and then her biggest supporter. This pair are adorable, you get romance here with lines like Luke has been staring at her for days. It's warm, cosy and makes you feel good.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Jodie's mum is awful, but this is all about Maggie. It really feels like her villain origin story as she looses everything in this, and here to watch the follow up where Maggie goes all vigilante to get her revenge. Deniz Sinaki would rock that. I mean she makes that giant black puffy top look great. Miracle worker.

😂 Comedy gold:

Some lovely lines here like the VIP being a very irritating person. And not comedy but appreciated Luke calling out a villain for their lack of basic human decency. Hurrah!

🎺 Unsung hero:

It feels unusual for a vertical these days but the majority of characters are good people - Luke, his assistant Jacob, his Grandma, Jodie's friend, Steve. It's rather comforting.
