⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Well this is glorious, gorgeous and FUN.

Yes you all told me to watch it and you are right.

It's joyous. Ok we know the hidden identity story, and we have to deal with yet another dodgy vertical beard but it works brilliantly because of the writing, performances and setting

The rockstar set up works so well, and the opening is incredibly powerful. Refreshing in a vertical that the set up is a tragic accident rather than psychotic villainous deed

And that sets the tone for the whole thing

Villains @torikayunedited and @makumusic are brilliant value, sufficiently nasty, without ever becoming too much. Sure this is because they are allowed to lean into the comedy, and Michael Ursu at times reminds me of the great Will Arnett.

We have wonderful side characters with the wannabe King Of Punk, @maxwellmaydaniuk as the entitled music student, and Chloe's grandparents

That is one of the real triumphs of this, to be able to move in tone from broad comedy to dealing with dementia in a kind and meaningful way.

But it is of course made by the music and stars @elisabethmontanaro and @caymancardiff who have multiple brilliant musical numbers together. The pair of them are amazing, and the prison blues number is astonishing. Just the ambition and talent here

But also a really wholesome love story - Shane overcoming his grief and finding love

Shane helping Chloe learn how to manage stage fright (I checked he is right with the famous names he mentions)

Chloe learning to step out of her sister's nasty shadow and shine on her own

By far my favourite Cayman vertical, and I will be looking up all of Elizabeth's other work as I want to watch more

💖 Top swoonworthy moment:

Well - whoever came up with the whole bowling alley sequence is a genius. Something new and original and swoonworthy. And just the most gorgeous relationship with 2 people helping each other overcome challenges, and growing stronger together. Green Flags AHOY.

🦹🏼‍♂️ Top villain award:

Troy and Amber are hilarious from the moment they 'arrive' on screen with Troy in the limousine. It's the perfect balance between nasty villains and comedy - all the little beats like the simultaneous hand wipes, OTT facial reactions, the yellow trunks - 'I'm a VVVIP'. So well done. Also appreciated that Amber is also a great singer, and didn't go down the route I predicted that she wouldn't be any good.

😂 Comedy gold:

So much - for a start everytime Michael Ursu is on screen. But shout out to the terrible punk band, and glorious punch up at the bowling alley, where the bystanders revel in the excitement of a bar fight.

🎺 Unsung hero:

Character wise Gavin who has to sort EVERYTHING for Shane, and needs to be paid more The music and singing is SUPERB And we even have some beautiful moments of pathos with the opening sequence, and Chloe's grandma Rachel. Everyone involved in this should be very proud.
